Lab Assistant – Quality Department (Springs, Johannesburg)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Lab Assistant to join the Quality Department at our Springs facility in Johannesburg. Reporting to the Intrinsic Quality Manager, you will support daily laboratory operations and ensure the integrity of sample retention and analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Manage retention of samples, including storage, line‑check feedback and disposal after the 18‑month retention period.
• Maintain and update DCS charts, providing accurate data for meetings and customer surveys.
• Perform chemical preparation and routine analyses, ensuring proper documentation of worksheets.
• Conduct weekly stock takes and general housekeeping in the chemical store, retention room and registration area.
• Complete housekeeping checklists and assist with inspections to uphold laboratory standards.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Chemistry, Food Technology or Biotechnology.
• Minimum one year of experience in a quality‑control testing laboratory.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking and ability to plan and prioritize tasks.
• Good administrative, written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
• Advanced use of Microsoft Excel.
• Competence in Microsoft Outlook.
