L1 Operator – Manufacturing

About the role
The L1 Operator works on the manufacturing floor of UPL's plant in Durban, producing crop solution formulations. The role involves operating analogue‑controlled equipment, handling hazardous materials safely, and meeting daily production targets.
Key responsibilities
- Operate non‑pressurised vessels using analogue controls.
- Handle flammable and hazardous chemicals in accordance with safety procedures.
- Oversee packing assistants, optimise workflow and troubleshoot issues.
- Monitor process efficiency metrics such as OEE, CCP, RFT and production yields.
- Record production data accurately, including quantities, quality checks and equipment status.
- Operate semi‑automated filling machines and ensure correct labeling of finished goods.
- Perform sampling as per batch sheets and maintain documentation.
- Operate a licensed forklift for material movement.
Required profile
- Experience working with analogue control systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work safely with hazardous and flammable substances.
- Licensed forklift operator.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
