Kitting Planner

About the role

The Kitting Planner will join the Service SA Team to manage the flow of materials into the locomotive repair line at a subcontractor facility. Working closely with the materials planner and project team members, you will ensure that the right parts are available at the right time to keep the repair line operating smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Collect technical and economic information to develop material supply and kitting plans.
• Order materials, update supply status, expedite urgent orders and cancel outdated ones.
• Create and maintain a planning information database and keep reference/regulatory data current.
• Set and monitor ERP parameters (safety stock, minimum order quantity, reorder point) in Oracle and adjust them based on consumption data.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to track material availability, plan orders and resolve issues.
• Analyze out‑of‑stock items at the repair warehouse and implement corrective actions.
• Review material overruns, provide insights to operations and forecast future consumption.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience as a planner or in a supply‑chain related role.
• Knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control and distribution.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and attention‑to‑detail abilities.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and adapt quickly.
• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent; diploma in Logistics/Supply Chain or related field preferred.
