About the role
The Sculler, also known as a Kitchen Steward, ensures the hotel kitchen remains spotless, safe and fully equipped for chefs and service teams. Working behind the scenes, you will support daily operations by maintaining hygiene standards and managing kitchen supplies.
Key responsibilities
- Wash and sanitise all crockery, cutlery, pots, pans and utensils according to hygiene protocols.
- Keep scullery areas, sinks, floors and equipment clean, dry and free of hazards.
- Assist chefs by providing a steady supply of clean tools during service.
- Separate and dispose of waste, recyclables and food scraps in line with hotel procedures.
- Handle cleaning chemicals and machinery responsibly, ensuring proper storage.
- Restock cleaning materials and assist with crockery and utensil replenishment.
- Report damaged items, maintenance issues or shortages to supervisors promptly.
Required profile
- Previous experience as a sculler, kitchen steward or cleaner in a hotel or restaurant is preferred.
- Physically fit and able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Reliable, punctual and detail‑oriented.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Flexible to work shifts, weekends, evenings and public holidays.
