Junior/Mid Level Civil Engineer (Project Contract)

About the role

Our client, a consulting engineering firm based in Durban, is seeking a Junior to Mid‑level Civil Engineer for a project‑specific contract. The role involves delivering civil engineering services on-site, supporting design and construction activities, and ensuring compliance with local standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform civil engineering design and calculations for structures and building projects.
• Assist in the preparation of technical drawings, specifications and reports.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical and chemical engineers, to integrate solutions.
• Conduct site inspections and support construction supervision.
• Ensure all work complies with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) regulations.

Required profile

• BTech or BSc in Civil Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical Engineering considered with relevant experience).
• 5–10 years of experience in civil/structural projects.
• Registration with ECSA preferred.
• Background in structures and building works.
• Own transport and a valid driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Knowledge of civil engineering principles and structural analysis.
• Familiarity with local building codes and standards.
