Junior QC Welding Inspector – Engineering & Manufacturing

About the role

Our client is looking for a motivated Junior QC Welding Inspector to join the Quality Control team in Heidelberg. The role involves inspecting welded components and fabricated products to ensure they meet engineering drawings, welding procedures, and customer specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Perform visual inspections of welds and fabricated assemblies.
• Verify compliance with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), engineering drawings and customer requirements.
• Identify defects, raise non‑conformance reports and support root‑cause investigations.
• Conduct in‑process and final inspections, measuring dimensions with verniers, micrometers, height gauges and tapes.
• Complete inspection reports, quality documentation and maintain calibrated inspection equipment.
• Monitor adherence to ISO quality management systems and workshop procedures.
• Liaise with production staff to resolve quality issues and promote a safe, organised work environment.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
• Recognised Quality Control (QC) certification.
• At least 2 years’ experience as a Welding QC Inspector in engineering, steel fabrication, manufacturing or the motor industry.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.
• Computer literacy with Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver’s licence (advantageous).

Required skills

• Visual Welding Inspection (VT).
• Welding Quality Control procedures.
• Understanding of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and welding symbols.
• Use of precision measuring equipment (vernier, micrometer, height gauge, measuring tape).
• Basic NDT Level I techniques (visual testing, magnetic particle testing, dye penetrant testing) – advantageous.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
