Junior Pastry Chef - Luxury Boutique Hotel (Franschhoek)

About the role

Pick Me Recruitment is recruiting a Junior Pastry Chef for its client's culinary team at a luxury boutique hotel in Franschhoek. The role covers a wide range of baked goods and desserts, working closely with the Pastry Chef to meet high standards of food preparation, presentation and hygiene.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare a wide variety of high-quality pastries, desserts and other baked goods for the restaurant menu.
• Assist the Pastry Chef in developing new pastry and dessert options for seasonal menus and special events.
• Maintain consistency in taste, appearance and portion control across all pastries and desserts.
• Help oversee the freshness and quality of ingredients used in pastry preparation.
• Develop and test new menu items, taking into account seasonal ingredients, customer preferences and trends.
• Work with the Pastry and Head Chef on special menus for events, promotions and seasonal changes.
• Help manage the inventory of pastry ingredients and supplies, keeping stock levels up and minimising wastage.

Required profile

• Diploma or certification in Pastry Arts, Culinary Arts or a related field.
• Similar experience in a 5-star hotel and/or fine dining restaurant.
• Exceptional knowledge of pastry techniques and dessert preparation.
• Preference given to candidates already living in the Franschhoek region; only South African citizens or permanent residents are considered, and no work permit applications are accepted.
