Junior IT Support Technician

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Junior IT Support Technician to join our team in Umhlanga Manors. You will act as the first line of defence, delivering essential technical assistance to users while gaining hands‑on experience alongside senior IT professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑line technical support across the business, troubleshooting hardware, software and network issues.
• Resolve tickets within agreed Service Level Agreements and document solutions clearly.
• Set up and configure desktops, laptops, printers and peripherals; install, update and patch operating systems and applications.
• Perform routine system maintenance, health checks and monitor alerts for security or operational incidents.
• Create and manage user accounts in Active Directory and cloud platforms, configure email, shared drives and access permissions.
• Maintain accurate asset registers, assist with onboarding and off‑boarding device provisioning.
• Support cybersecurity policies, endpoint protection, patch management and report vulnerabilities.
• Assist senior team members on IT projects, rollouts and testing.

Required profile

• Strong English communication skills.
• Good understanding of computer hardware, Windows operating systems and basic networking.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and effective time‑management.
• Physically able to lift at least 50 kg.
• Willingness to learn quickly and adapt to change.

Required skills

• A+ and Network+ certifications (or recent IT diploma/degree).
• Experience with Active Directory.
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Azure.
• Knowledge of VPNs and firewalls.
• Exposure to ticketing systems such as Freshdesk, Zendesk or ServiceNow.
