Junior Electronic Engineer – Defence Engineering

About the role

Join a leading South African defence engineering firm as a Junior Electronic Engineer. You will work on the design, manufacture, testing and evaluation of advanced fire‑control and sighting systems for military platforms, gaining hands‑on experience across electro‑mechanical and electro‑optical technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design electronic subsystems for electro‑mechanical equipment.
• Create PCB layouts, assemble prototypes and develop embedded software where required.
• Test, evaluate, modify and re‑test integrated hardware to meet client specifications.
• Measure system performance and ensure compliance with technical standards.
• Assist with project budgets, timelines and provide hardware/software support on‑site and at client locations.
• Liaise with suppliers, write technical and test reports, and maintain accurate build documentation.

Required profile

• Degree in Electronic Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Self‑starter with strong initiative and ownership of tasks.
• Curious, adaptable and eager to learn in a fast‑paced environment.
• Effective communicator with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Willingness to travel locally and internationally; valid passport required.
