Junior Commercial Legal Secretary

About the role

Our specialist law firm, renowned for expertise in corporate, commercial, trust, tax law and estate administration, is seeking a Junior Commercial Legal Secretary to support our legal team in Johannesburg. This entry‑level position offers exposure to a wide range of corporate and trust documentation while developing practical legal administration skills.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file CIPC company formation documents, share transfers and updates to the share register.
• Draft, register and maintain trusts in accordance with the Master of the High Court requirements.
• Use the firm’s proprietary drafting software to produce legal documents, with training provided.
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date client and case records.
• Communicate professionally with clients, colleagues and senior management.

Required profile

• Self‑motivated and able to take ownership of tasks without constant supervision.
• Fast, accurate typing with a strong focus on detail and quality.
• Ability to work at a steady, productive pace and meet deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Professional, reliable and committed to high‑performance standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Familiarity with CIPC processes for company formation and registration.
• Understanding of trust formation and registration procedures.
• Experience with in‑house legal drafting software (training provided).
