Junior Commercial Lawyer

About the role

Our client, a well‑established legal firm in Pretoria, is seeking a motivated Junior Commercial Lawyer to support its commercial and corporate law practice. This position is ideal for an admitted attorney who has completed articles and is eager to develop expertise in commercial transactions and client advisory work.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and amend commercial agreements and contracts.
• Conduct legal research and provide interpretations of commercial law issues.
• Assist senior attorneys with legal opinions, advisory work and commercial transactions.
• Liaise with clients, attend consultations and keep them informed on matter progress.
• Maintain accurate legal documentation, ensure regulatory compliance and manage filing systems.
• Support commercial dispute resolution, prepare supporting documentation and coordinate with external counsel.
• Participate in team meetings, training sessions and stay updated on legislative developments.

Required profile

• LLB degree and admission as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• 1–2 years post‑articles experience with exposure to commercial law.
• Strong attention to detail, professional presentation and excellent communication skills.
• Own transport and a valid driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience using Caseline legal software.
• Familiarity with CourtOnline platform.
