Junior Business Support Specialist – Reconciliation

About the role

Old Mutual is looking for a Junior Business Support Specialist to join the Group Finance Enablement Team and support the Reconciliation Centre of Excellence (RCoE). The role covers daily operational and strategic work for the Accurate Reconciliation Tool, acting as a key point of contact for stakeholders and delivering training and support to users.

Key responsibilities

• Support the RCoE team in delivering its daily operational and strategic objectives.
• Act as primary point of contact for Accurate Reconciliation Tool stakeholders and communicate service events and operational impacts promptly.
• Manage, distribute and execute work requests, and maintain team priorities on the Jira dashboard.
• Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
• Deliver training and support to new and existing users of the Accurate Reconciliation Tool.
• Run, analyse and distribute accounting, reconciliation, management and technical reports.
• Support account onboarding, take-on activities and process implementation projects.
• Investigate incidents, exceptions and imbalances between General Ledger accounts and Trial Balances.
• Identify process improvement and automation opportunities in reconciliation, and collaborate with business, finance and technical teams to resolve issues.
• Design, implement and maintain automated matching rules to achieve and sustain an 80% automated match rate across all Accurate accounts.

Required profile

• NQF Level 5 qualification in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent.
• 2-3 years' experience in a finance, reconciliation, accounting or operational support environment.
• Strong understanding of General Ledger and Trial Balance reconciliation processes.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and investigation skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Required skills

• Experience with work management platforms and reconciliation systems.
• Knowledge of SQL and database querying is advantageous, for developing and enhancing automated matching logic.
• Database administration, DBMS and data controls competencies.
