Junior Accountant – Property Development & Construction

About the role

This position is designed for a qualified accountant who has completed their SAIPA articles and is eager to develop their career within a dynamic property development and construction environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Execute month‑end and year‑end accounting processes.
• Post journals, accruals and perform general ledger reconciliations.
• Reconcile bank and balance‑sheet accounts.
• Calculate VAT and submit statutory returns.
• Support annual audits and provide necessary documentation.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, company policies and relevant legislation.
• Review and reconcile debtor and creditor accounts.
• Identify and implement improvements to financial controls and processes.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver financial guidance.
• Perform any other accounting and finance‑related duties as required.

Required profile

• BCom degree in Accounting, Financial Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in a finance or accounting role.
• Practical experience with journal processing, bank and creditor reconciliations, supplier invoice capture, VAT reconciliations and fixed‑asset register maintenance.
• Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Advantageous: completed SAIPA articles, experience with CaseWare, knowledge of South African VAT legislation.
