Junior Accountant

About the role

A client of ARVO, a thriving and innovative company based in Cape Town, is looking for a Junior Accountant to join its finance team. The role supports the finance department with day-to-day accounting tasks, assists with financial reporting and ensures accuracy in financial records. It suits someone who wants to grow their skills and gain industry experience in a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Process invoices, payments and reconciliations to keep records accurate.
• Assist with month-end and year-end financial close processes.
• Support the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
• Collaborate with team members to improve accounting processes and systems.
• Help maintain compliance with tax regulations and internal controls.
• Learn and grow under the mentorship of experienced accounting professionals.

Required profile

• A relevant bookkeeping or accounting qualification (diploma, degree or currently pursuing).
• 1-2 years of practical experience in accounting or finance roles preferred but not mandatory.
• Good understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to manage several tasks and meet deadlines.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work well within a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software such as Xero, Pastel or similar.
• Willingness to learn and take initiative.
