Junior Accountant – Cape Town

About the role

Scatec is seeking a Junior Accountant to join its Finance and Asset Management team in Cape Town. You will support multiple group companies by handling core accounting processes, ensuring accurate financial records and timely internal reporting in a fast‑growing renewable‑energy environment.

Key responsibilities

• Process cashbooks, journal entries, intercompany transactions, customer invoices and monthly statements.
• Prepare bank, supplier, balance‑sheet, travel‑expense and corporate credit‑card reconciliations.
• Capture supplier invoices, manage approval workflows and verify VAT, purchase‑order and compliance requirements.
• Coordinate domestic and international payment runs, create payment batches and load payments onto banking platforms.
• Resolve supplier and invoice queries and maintain supporting documentation.
• Prepare monthly VAT calculations and assist with tax, KYC, CIPC, annual return and other statutory compliance.
• Compile audit working papers, including ED and BEE‑related schedules.
• Provide general finance support and respond to ad‑hoc accounting and reporting requests.

Required profile

• Relevant accounting qualification or degree.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Good understanding of South African tax and compliance regulations.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with internal teams and external suppliers.

Required skills

• Proficiency in accounting principles and journal entry processing.
• Experience with bank and supplier reconciliations.
• Knowledge of VAT handling and statutory reporting.
