Junior Accountant – Business Services & Advisory

About the role

BDO is seeking a Junior Accountant to join its Business Services and Advisory department. The role involves supporting a diverse portfolio of individual, trust and close‑corporation clients, primarily Afrikaans‑speaking, and delivering high‑quality accounting and assurance services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients including individuals, trusts and close corporations.
• Perform Compilation engagements (ISRS 4410) and Independent Review engagements (ISRE 2400).
• Conduct Accounting Officer engagements under the Close Corporations Act.
• Plan engagements thoroughly and adhere to BDO SOPs.
• Propose journal entries and communicate engagement arrangements and results to clients.
• Prepare, process and maintain accounting records from source documents.
• Execute balance‑sheet reconciliations and prepare audit files.
• Finalize accounts and produce monthly management accounts.

Required profile

• BCom in Financial Accounting.
• Detail‑oriented and client‑focused with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable communicating with Afrikaans‑speaking clients.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of commonly used accounting packages for reporting and ad‑hoc processing.
• Detailed knowledge of Caseware working papers.
