Java Engineer – Cape Town

About the role

As a Java Engineer you will tackle challenging software engineering problems for large German and South African clients. You will design, develop and implement robust backend services and integration layers using modern AI‑enhanced development methods.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build backend services, REST APIs and integration layers following object‑oriented principles and design patterns.
• Write clean, testable, efficient code in Java and related technologies.
• Participate in code reviews, performance tuning and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams using agile methods such as Scrum and Design Thinking.
• Contribute to knowledge‑sharing communities within the company.

Required profile

• University degree in Computer Science or a comparable discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience.
• Proactive, pragmatic and strong team collaboration skills.
• Comfortable working in an agile environment.
