IT Technician

About the role

Tsheleka (Pty) Ltd is looking for a proactive IT Technician to deliver first‑ and second‑line support across its head office and branch locations in Pietermaritzburg. The role involves maintaining the company’s IT infrastructure, ensuring reliable network connectivity, and supporting end‑users with hardware, software and security needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑ and second‑line technical support to all users.
• Install, configure and maintain desktop, laptop and mobile devices.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, network and connectivity issues.
• Administer Microsoft 365 and Active Directory environments.
• Support LAN, WAN, Wi‑Fi and VPN connectivity.
• Maintain printers, scanners, biometric devices and related peripherals.
• Assist with cybersecurity initiatives, endpoint protection and security updates.
• Maintain IT asset registers and equipment allocation records.
• Deliver remote and onsite support to branch operations.
• Liaise with suppliers and service providers to resolve technical issues.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of IT support experience.
• National Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Systems or equivalent.
• Valid South African driver’s licence.
• Strong problem‑solving and customer‑service orientation.

Required skills

• Desktop, laptop and mobile device setup and configuration.
• Hardware and software troubleshooting.
• Network troubleshooting (LAN, WAN, Wi‑Fi, VPN).
• Microsoft 365 administration.
• Active Directory administration.
• Printer, scanner and biometric device maintenance.
• Endpoint protection and security update management.
• IT asset register management.
