Investment Analyst - Johannesburg

About the role

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract Investment Analyst position in Johannesburg, reporting to the Fund Manager. The role provides support to Investment Associates on all areas of transaction execution.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, package and recommend UIF transactions to committees for approval.
• Apply standard investment analysis, under the advice of senior team members, to deal structuring, market analysis and valuation principles.
• Provide comprehensive financial analysis using approved financial modelling tools to the Deal Team.
• Analyse, compile and report market information on a deal-by-deal basis.
• Carry out valuation analysis on all transactions to mitigate risks, using industry best practice.
• Mobilise, coordinate and guide internal and external resources to appraise deals and applications.
• Use industry relationships to bring in ongoing industry analysis from other institutions.
• Influence internal decision-making and project processes to obtain investment approval.
• Develop knowledge of corporate finance, the private equity macro environment, sectors and transaction dynamics to recommend mitigation measures for key risks.
• Take part in due diligence exercises on request, using approved processes and principles.
• Comment on finance and legal structures for each deal to ensure long-term sustainability and viability.

Required profile

• Generalist in corporate finance with some experience in private equity.
• Good to high command of the abilities required for the role.
• Minimum of 2 years of financial analysis experience.
• B Com Hons or Engineering degree.
