Internal Control Accountant

About the role

We are looking for an Internal Control Accountant to join our finance team. The role focuses on ensuring the accuracy of financial transactions, maintaining robust internal controls, and supporting the deployment of new reconciliation processes.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and analyse data to identify reconciliation weaknesses and residual risks.
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly reconciliations in Pastel and other reconciliation software.
• Reconcile mobile voucher transactions and tax (Tax2/Tax3) data to safeguard against financial loss.
• Implement and monitor controls for third‑party integrations, ensuring auditability of transactions.
• Escalate client debit balances and variances that fall outside standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with development and operational teams to test new products and ensure supporting financial records are accurate before deployment.
• Oversee the rollout of new reconciliation software and ensure sign‑offs are completed.
• Support junior staff, resolve variances, and produce daily summary reports.
• Maintain and enforce company policies, health and safety regulations, and compliance with relevant laws.
• Update risk registers and contribute to continuous improvement of internal control frameworks.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Pastel accounting software.
• Experience using reconciliation software and performing complex reconciliations.
• Knowledge of tax reconciliation (Tax2/Tax3) and mobile voucher processing.
• Familiarity with third‑party integration controls and audit trails.
