Intermediate Control & Automation Engineer

About the role

The Intermediate Control & Automation Engineer supports the Senior Control & Automation Engineer and the Project Engineering Manager within a global Project Delivery Group. The role involves designing, reviewing and maintaining control and automation systems for projects in mining, energy and infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a thorough understanding of project scope, cost and schedule requirements.
• Prepare and track engineering deliverables and budgets.
• Maintain and update scope of work documentation throughout design evolution.
• Assist in creating project‑specific procedures and defining system requirements.
• Schedule, coordinate and participate in S&PC design reviews, HAZOP, HAZID, SIL and other process safety reviews.
• Ensure coordination between S&PC and other disciplines as designs evolve.
• Conduct quality audits in line with project procedures and the Quality Assurance Plan.
• Promote ethical and professional practices and compliance with regional occupational health and safety regulations.
• Drive value engineering initiatives, especially in energy management, and capture lessons learned.
• Inform site‑based team members of safety requirements and personal protective equipment needs.

Required profile

• Intermediate level professional with experience supporting senior control and automation engineers.
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Strong understanding of project documentation, design reviews and safety processes.
