Integrated Development Planning Officer

About the role

The Integrated Development Planning (IDP) Officer will lead the coordination, compilation and review of the municipality’s Integrated Development Plan. This role ensures that socio‑economic data and service access levels are regularly updated and that community and stakeholder inputs shape the planning process.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the compilation and review of the Integrated Development Plan and develop the IDP process plan.
• Update municipal service access levels and socio‑economic data on a regular basis.
• Facilitate public, community and stakeholder participation throughout the IDP process.
• Align the IDP with neighbouring municipalities, provincial and national departments, as well as key investors such as mines.
• Conduct community research, prepare reports and act as the liaison between the municipality and the community for data collection.
• Prepare and present IDP reports to municipal council and external partners.
• Maintain secretariat functions for IDP‑related meetings and documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Development Planning, Development Studies or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in IDP or a related planning field.
• Computer literacy and possession of a valid driver’s licence.
• Proficient in using municipal GIS and data management tools.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet statutory deadlines.
