Insurance Consultant

About the role

Santam is seeking an Insurance Consultant to support its broker network and drive growth in commercial and agricultural lines. You will act as the primary point of contact for brokers, ensuring timely policy issuance, maintenance, and renewal while delivering exceptional customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Service broker enquiries via phone and email, handling policy issuance, maintenance, renewal and agricultural aspects.
• Contribute to net‑profit and growth targets for the assigned portfolio.
• Resolve insurance queries within required timeframes and compliance standards.
• Conduct client follow‑ups on cancelled policies to understand reasons and attempt retention.
• Adjust premiums in line with updated asset values and manage client expectations on turnaround times.
• Adhere to underwriting criteria, regional requirements and quality standards.
• Assist brokers in selecting suitable products and underwriting criteria.
• Support process improvement initiatives and provide coverage during colleague absences.

Required profile

• Matric/Grade 12 with 60 commercial‑lines FAIS credits.
• Relevant insurance qualification (e.g., NQF Level 5).
• Minimum 3 years experience in short‑term commercial or agricultural insurance policy administration and underwriting.
• Proven ability to work independently, adapt to situations and optimise work processes.
