Infrastructure Engineer – Cloud Security Architecture (Contract)

About the role

Our client is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to join the core Infrastructure Engineering team within the Group IT Hub South Africa. The role focuses on driving the strategic Zero Trust Initiative and shaping the future security architecture across the Group’s international IT landscape.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and support secure, scalable cloud infrastructure embedding Zero Trust controls across identity, network and data domains.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning with Terraform and CI/CD tools, including security validation and secure deployment pipelines.
• Build and maintain cloud networking components such as DNS, VPNs, load balancers and routing, and operate Kubernetes container platforms.
• Instrument platform services with metrics, traces and logs, define SLOs, maintain dashboards and participate in on‑call rotations.
• Perform root‑cause analysis on production incidents, drive continuous improvements in reliability and security posture.
• Guide development and production teams, define integration standards and resolve escalated technical tasks.

Required profile

• 6+ years of hands‑on experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering or DevOps with strong AWS expertise.
• Proven track record designing and operating secure, highly available cloud platforms at scale.
• Strong systems thinking, risk management mindset and ownership to drive technical topics to completion.
• Experience working in structured Agile and DevOps delivery environments.
