Industrial Site Intermediate Life Support

About the role

To attend to site‑based emergency calls and provide medical care in line with the scope of practice as an Intermediate Life Support (ILS) or Ambulance Emergency Assistant (AEA). The role supports new mining sites across South Africa and is offered as a three‑year contract, subject to successful physical fitness and medical assessment.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure operational readiness for emergency calls
• Administer patient care in line with the scope of practice
• Provide professional emergency services to site‑based clients

Required profile

• Ambulance Emergency Assistant Certificate or higher certificate in emergency medical care (essential)
• Completion of training related to Clinical Practice Guidelines published by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (advantageous)
• Minimum 1 year EMS experience (essential)
• 1 year Intermediate Life Support experience (desired)
• Successful physical fitness and medical assessment

Required skills

• Knowledge of facilities, travel routes and demographical area
• Familiarity with HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice
• Proficiency in English (written and verbal)
• Use of Patient Report Forms
• Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety legislation (OSH Act, Mine Health and Safety Act) and risk management
