Industrial Relations Officer / Consultant

About the role

The successful candidate will provide expert industrial relations support to a portfolio of clients, ensuring compliance with South African labour legislation and helping organisations manage disciplinary and grievance matters effectively.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver industrial relations advice and support to multiple client organisations.
• Conduct disciplinary hearings, grievance procedures and draft related documentation such as charges, notices and warnings.
• Represent clients at CCMA and Bargaining Council conciliations and arbitrations.
• Carry out workplace investigations and advise management on best practices and legal compliance.
• Develop, review and update HR and IR policies across client operations.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships and provide training to managers on labour legislation and disciplinary processes.

Required profile

• LLB degree or recognised labour law qualification.
• 2–3 years of practical industrial relations experience.
• Solid knowledge of the Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Employment Equity Act and Skills Development Act (OHS Act advantageous).
• Experience chairing disciplinary hearings, conducting investigations and representing employers before the CCMA and Bargaining Councils.
• Excellent report‑writing and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to client sites.
