Industrial Engineering Lecturer / Professor (Multiple Levels)

About the role

The School of Industrial Engineering at North-West University is seeking academics to join its permanent faculty across four seniority levels – Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer and Lecturer. Successful candidates will contribute to high‑quality teaching, applied research and strong industry engagement within the Industrial Engineering discipline.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Industrial Engineering and related specialisations.
• Develop and update curricula to reflect current industry practices and research advances.
• Supervise student projects, theses and research activities.
• Conduct independent research, publish in reputable journals and secure external funding.
• Engage with industry partners to align teaching and research with real‑world challenges.
• Participate in departmental and university service, including committees and accreditation processes.

Required profile

• An Industrial Engineering BEng or BScEng that qualifies for registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
• ECSA registration as a Professional Engineer (preferred).
• For Professor: PhD in Industrial Engineering or related field, minimum 15 years of relevant experience (at least 5 in higher education) and an NRF‑rated research portfolio.
• For Associate Professor: PhD, minimum 10 years of experience (at least 3 in higher education) and a trajectory toward NRF rating within three years.
• For Senior Lecturer: PhD or equivalent, with substantial teaching and research experience.
• For Lecturer: PhD or a strong professional background in Industrial Engineering.
