Independent Reviewer

About the role

BDO is seeking an Independent Reviewer to join its Annual work team in Pretoria. You will support engagement teams, provide technical guidance to junior staff, and ensure compliance with accounting and audit standards while delivering high‑quality financial services to clients.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain client relationships through proactive communication.
• Execute annual write‑ups of accounting records using Xero, SAGE Online or Pastel Partner.
• Perform agreed‑upon procedures, ISRS 4410 compilation engagements, and ISRE 2400 independent review engagements.
• Draft financial statements in accordance with IFRS and IFRS for SMEs using Caseware.
• Prepare basic tax computations for companies, close corporations and trusts.
• Manage own work‑in‑progress and budgets under the guidance of senior staff.
• Identify cross‑selling opportunities for other BDO services.
• Mentor junior staff and provide on‑the‑job training.
• Implement standard operating procedures and quality processes.

Required profile

• 1‑2 years of relevant experience.
• B.Com Accounting degree (Hons. or CTA advantageous).
• Membership with SAICA or SAIPA.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a team.
• Willingness to travel within greater Pretoria (own or public transport).
