In-Person Pre-Grade R Readiness Tutor (Ikwezi Park)

About the role

Apex Academic Centre is looking for a dedicated Early Childhood Development educator to deliver daily, in‑home school readiness sessions for a young learner preparing for Grade R entry next year. The role is based in Ikwezi Park, Cape Town and runs Monday to Friday at 11 am.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct structured, age‑appropriate activities focused on shape and colour recognition, number awareness, alphabet identification and fine‑motor skills.
• Support the learner in building independence, routine habits and classroom‑readiness behaviours.
• Track progress against school‑readiness milestones and adjust activities as needed.
• Travel to the learner’s home using reliable transport.

Required profile

• Recognised qualification in Early Childhood Development, Foundation Phase Education or a closely related field.
• Proven experience working with pre‑school children in a teaching or developmental capacity.
• Nurturing, patient and playful approach to early learning.
• Ability to design and deliver structured activities that meet developmental benchmarks.
• Reliable transport for house‑call visits.
