Hygiene Officer

About the role

The Hygiene Officer will ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the back‑of‑house areas of Park Inn by Radisson Polokwane. Working within the kitchen and stewarding teams, you will support chefs, banquet staff and other departments to deliver a safe and spotless environment for guests and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise all stewarding department employees, facilities and operations.
• Maintain sanitation, cleanliness and hygiene standards in back‑of‑house areas and ensure cleaning schedules are followed.
• Direct stewards to improve clean‑up efficiency and verify water temperature and chemical levels for cleaning.
• Assist with banquet plate‑ups, buffet stock handling and transport.
• Support chefs and kitchen staff with various tasks as required.
• Monitor proper use of chemicals and washing accessories.
• Coordinate with the Executive Chef on stock levels and approve storeroom requisitions.
• Liaise with the Assistant Food & Beverage Manager and outlet managers to meet daily requirements.
• Assist in locating, moving, storing and stock‑taking banquet equipment.
• Work closely with the Chef and Banqueting Manager to anticipate guest needs and ensure service items are available.
• Implement actions to reduce loss of silverware and breakage of china and glassware.

Required profile

• Proven experience in hotel kitchen operations and hygiene.
• Strong knowledge of cleanliness and sanitation procedures.

• Attention to detail and a proactive mindset.
