HVAC Technician – Luxury Hotel

About the role

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to join the maintenance team at Cape Grace, a luxury Fairmont hotel in Cape Town. The role involves ensuring all heating, ventilation and air‑conditioning systems operate flawlessly to deliver the high‑standard guest experience expected at a five‑star property.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of rooms, lighting, signage and back‑of‑house areas.
• Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of all mechanical rooms and service areas.
• Conduct fault finding, troubleshooting and repair of HVAC equipment, including chilled water systems, cassette units and split units.
• Respond to emergency call‑outs for issues such as blocked drains, burst pipes, fire or electrical failures.
• Ensure compliance with health‑and‑safety regulations, fire, security and emergency procedures.
• Collaborate with other departments and assist colleagues as needed.

Required profile

• Thorough knowledge of hotel operations and guest service standards.
• Familiarity with hotel policies, house rules and safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to be on call for emergencies.

Required skills

• Extensive knowledge of chilled water systems.
• Experience with cassette and split HVAC units.
• Strong fault‑finding and troubleshooting abilities.
• Understanding of health‑and‑safety and emergency response protocols.
