Human Resources Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager with a strong background in the hospitality sector to lead our people strategy in Durban. The role will oversee the full HR function, partnering with senior management to attract, develop and retain talent while ensuring compliance with South African labour laws.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage all HR activities across the organisation, aligning strategies with business objectives.
• Partner with management on workforce planning, organisational development and talent management.
• Oversee recruitment, selection, onboarding and employee retention programmes.
• Drive performance management, employee development and succession planning.
• Handle employee relations, disciplinary processes and grievance procedures.
• Develop, maintain and update HR policies, procedures and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with applicable employment legislation and HR standards.
• Manage employee engagement, culture and wellness initiatives.
• Identify training needs and coordinate relevant development programmes.
• Monitor HR metrics and provide insightful reports to senior leadership.
• Provide payroll‑related inputs and maintain accurate employee records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology or related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in an HR management or leadership role.
• Proven hospitality industry experience.
• Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation and HR best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to manage employee relations and performance management.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder‑management skills.
• High level of confidentiality, professionalism and integrity.
