Hub Development Coordinator

About the role

The Hub Development Coordinator will lead the establishment of community fisheries and data hubs across South Africa’s coastal regions. This hands‑on role combines site scouting, regulatory navigation, infrastructure procurement, contractor oversight, and final commissioning, ending with training local operators.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and assess potential hub locations, evaluating fisher density, community interest, and logistical feasibility.
• Engage with municipal authorities to secure pre‑approvals and ensure compliance with zoning, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Develop cost estimates and oversee procurement of cold‑chain and digital traceability equipment.
• Manage contractors for construction, installation, and commissioning of container‑based or mobile hub facilities.
• Coordinate final certification, handover to operational teams, and provide training to community members.
• Maintain documentation and reporting throughout the deployment lifecycle.

Required profile

• Strong technical background with experience in infrastructure projects.
• Proven ability to work with fishing communities, cooperatives, and local authorities.
• Excellent project management and multi‑tasking skills.
• Willingness to travel regularly to coastal sites.
