HR Officer – Contact Centre

About the role

Ergasia Placements is seeking an experienced HR Officer for a fast‑paced contact centre environment in Randburg, Johannesburg. The role will manage the full employee lifecycle, from bulk recruitment to employee engagement, ensuring compliance with South African labour legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end recruitment, advertising, screening, interviewing, onboarding and coordination of learnerships and internships.
• Provide HR guidance on employee relations, handling disciplinary hearings, grievances, incapacity cases and performance‑management processes.
• Oversee probation reviews, performance improvement plans and ensure consistent application of performance standards.
• Maintain accurate employee records, HR documentation and ensure compliance with BCEA, LRA and EEA.
• Support wellness and engagement initiatives to foster a positive workplace culture.
• Compile HR reports, workforce statistics and assist with talent acquisition and retention strategies.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) and a relevant HR degree or diploma.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as an HR Officer or HR Generalist (internships not counted).
• Proven experience in high‑volume bulk recruitment.
• Strong employee‑relations background, including disciplinary and grievance handling.
• Good knowledge of South African labour legislation (BCEA, LRA, EEA).
• At least 2 years’ experience using Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Experience in a call‑centre environment is an advantage.
