HR Manager – Johannesburg

About the role

We are partnering with a fast‑moving, entrepreneurial business in Johannesburg that needs a hands‑on HR Manager to take full ownership of its people function. Reporting to senior leadership and sitting on the MANCO/EXCO, you will be the go‑to person for everything HR, from strategic discussions to day‑to‑day employee matters.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day HR operations, supported by an HR Administrator.
• Maintain accurate employee records, contracts, and HR documentation.
• Oversee employee relations, disciplinary and grievance processes in line with South African labour law.
• Ensure compliance with labour legislation, HR policies and Employment Equity reporting.
• Coordinate recruitment, prepare offers, and manage onboarding and off‑boarding processes.
• Administer leave, probation, promotions, transfers and salary‑change documentation.
• Drive employee engagement, recognition, wellness initiatives and workplace celebrations.
• Provide HR insight and advice to the executive team as a member of MANCO/EXCO.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an HR generalist who has owned the full HR function.
• Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation and Employment Equity compliance.
• Excellent organisational skills with a track record of accurate HR administration.
• Ability to interact confidently with senior leaders and handle sensitive employee issues.
• Warm, energetic, pragmatic and adaptable personality, comfortable in a fast‑changing environment.

• Competitive salary of R50,000–R60,000 gross per month, commensurate with experience.
