HR Manager

About the role

The HR Manager is responsible for leading the human resources function, ensuring that people strategies align with business objectives and that HR processes are efficient, compliant and supportive of a positive workplace culture.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction for staff sourcing, retention, discipline and development to support business goals.
• Develop, update and communicate HR policies, procedures and a disciplinary code to ensure fair treatment and legal compliance.
• Monitor staff satisfaction, company culture and turnover, advising management on trends and risk mitigation.
• Oversee recruitment activities: advertise vacancies, screen CVs, conduct interviews and match candidates to client requirements.
• Manage HR administration tasks, including document filing, database upkeep and preparation of correspondence.
• Assist line managers with employee discipline, performance management and labour relations, ensuring adherence to progressive discipline processes.
• Ensure job profiles exist for all positions and that performance agreements and appraisals are conducted.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation and HR best practices.
• Proven experience in strategic HR planning, policy development and employee relations.
• Ability to advise senior management on workforce issues and cultural initiatives.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship‑building skills.
