HR Manager – Employee Development & Relations

About the role

The HR Manager – Employee Development & Relations will serve as the primary HR partner for Head Office employees, overseeing Employee Relations, Wellness, Learning & Development, and Talent Management. This role provides strategic HR advice to senior leadership and translates business strategy into people initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Own and integrate Employee Relations (ER/IR), Wellness, L&D, and Talent Management frameworks for the Head Office.
• Provide strategic HR advisory input to Head Office leadership, influencing decision‑making.
• Design, implement and continuously improve ER, Wellness, L&D and Talent frameworks.
• Develop and deliver compliant HR Development interventions, ensuring programme quality and accreditation.
• Oversee all HRD‑related administrative and statutory requirements.
• Act as the central point of contact for ER/IR matters, coordinating effective interventions.
• Leverage people analytics and ER trends to identify risks and inform proactive solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in HR Management (or equivalent).
• Postgraduate qualification in HR Management, Industrial Psychology, or related field.
• Industrial Relations qualification.
• 7–10 years total work experience, including 4–5 years in a similar HR partnering role.
• Experience working with leadership‑level stakeholders.
• Knowledge of South African labour laws and ER/IR processes.
• Familiarity with relevant South African legislation.
• Fluent English communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with SAGE P300.
