Hotel Manager

About the role

The Hotel Manager joins the senior operations team at Pezula Nature Retreat in Knysna, Western Cape. This role leads the property with a Pure Hosting philosophy, turning every guest interaction into measurable performance while ensuring a seamless journey from arrival to departure.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the property through a Pure Hosting approach focused on guest connection, personalization and repeat‑guest value.
• Take full ownership of daily hotel operations across accommodation, food & beverage and public areas.
• Guide and hold Heads of Department accountable for service standards, productivity and team performance.
• Maintain a visible, hands‑on presence during key guest and operational moments.
• Oversee staffing, rostering and duty management in a seven‑day environment.
• Ensure SOPs, presentation standards, cleanliness and operational readiness are consistently met.
• Manage guest feedback, complaints and online reputation platforms proactively.
• Monitor budgets, labour costs, stock control and purchasing processes; work with Finance on income statements and variance analysis.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety, legislative requirements and operational audits.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, performance management and disciplinary processes.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Hospitality Management or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Hotel Manager or senior role in a 4‑ or 5‑star environment.
• Strong operational understanding across rooms, food & beverage and guest service delivery.
• Proven leadership experience in a fast‑paced hospitality setting.
• Solid financial awareness including budgeting, cost control and reporting.
• Confident communicator with a strong leadership presence.
