Hotel Handyman – Maintenance & Repairs

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Handyman to join the facilities team at Protea Hotel by Marriott Breakwater Lodge. The successful candidate will respond promptly to guest repair requests, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure the hotel’s equipment and infrastructure remain in optimal condition.

Key responsibilities

• Attend to guest repair requests and communicate resolutions.
• Carry out preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen equipment, and mechanical room assets.
• Inspect, clean, lubricate and troubleshoot a wide range of equipment.
• Identify and operate shut‑off valves for utilities and equipment.
• Maintain inventory, requisition parts and supplies as needed.
• Document daily activities and hand over information to subsequent shifts.
• Perform minor painting, drywall, wood‑trim repairs and general cleanup.
• Handle basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC tasks, including filter changes.
• Program televisions, manage housekeeping‑related inventory, and use lockout/tagout procedures before work.
• Maintain interior and exterior landscaping, including sprinkler systems.

Required profile

• Physical ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lb and perform heavier tasks with assistance.
• Clear, professional communication skills for interacting with guests and team members.
