Hotel Cleanliness Expert (Houseman)

About the role

The Hotel Cleanliness Expert (Houseman) ensures that all public and service areas of the Protea Hotel by Marriott Breakwater Lodge Waterfront are kept safe, presentable and fully functional. Working full‑time on‑site, you will support guests, residents and staff by maintaining the appearance and basic upkeep of the property.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and maintain lobbies, corridors, stairwells, elevators, service areas, exterior walkways, landscaping and waste‑removal zones.
• Post caution signs, report urgent repairs to relevant departments and respond promptly to guest and staff requests.
• Identify and document preventative maintenance issues in public areas and guest rooms.
• Complete daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly checklists and submit them to management.
• Assist with emergency response actions such as plumbing or fire follow‑up when required.
• Deliver packages, laundry and dry‑cleaning to guests and operate the service elevator as needed.
• Transport luggage, remove trash from floors and compactor rooms, and ensure recycling compliance.

Required profile

• Physically able to lift ≤ 25 kg unaided and heavier items with assistance; capable of pushing, pulling and operating equipment on uneven surfaces.
• Comfortable working at heights, on ladders and in confined spaces; able to stand, walk, kneel or sit for extended periods.
• Clear, professional communication skills and ability to interact courteously with guests, residents and colleagues.
• Commitment to safety procedures, uniform standards and confidentiality of proprietary information.
