Hotel Cleanliness Expert (Houseman)

About the role

The Hotel Cleanliness Expert (Houseman) ensures guest rooms and public areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety and presentation. Working on‑site at the Protea Hotel by Marriott Mowbray, you will respond promptly to guest and department requests while following all company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to guest and internal requests, delivering supplies and cart services to assigned areas.
• Enter guest rooms, verify vacancy, replace amenities, change linens, make beds and fold terry.
• Clean bathrooms, remove trash, dirty linen and room‑service items, and ensure all appliances are present and functional.
• Dust, polish, remove marks from walls and furnishings; straighten desks, furniture and appliances.
• Vacuum carpets and perform floor‑care duties in rooms and hallways.
• Follow safety, security and hazardous‑material procedures; report maintenance problems, hazards or injuries.
• Maintain a clean, professional uniform and uphold confidentiality of proprietary information.
• Welcome guests, anticipate service needs, assist individuals with disabilities and communicate professionally.
• Lift, carry and move objects up to 25 lb unaided and heavier items with assistance; push/pull a loaded housekeeping cart over uneven surfaces.

Required profile

• Physical ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, twist and lift for the duration of a shift.
• Capability to operate housekeeping carts and equipment safely.
• Commitment to follow all company policies, safety standards and confidentiality requirements.
• Professional appearance and clear, courteous communication skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of housekeeping procedures and cleaning chemicals.
• Understanding of safety and hazardous‑material handling protocols.
