Hospitality Management Lecturer

About the role

The International Hotel School Durban Campus seeks a passionate Hospitality Management Lecturer to inspire and guide students pursuing careers in the hospitality sector. You will play a pivotal role in shaping future professionals by delivering engaging curriculum and supporting their personal and professional development.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver lectures, workshops, and practical sessions in hospitality management.
• Develop and assess coursework, examinations, and projects in line with industry standards.
• Provide academic advising and mentorship to students, monitoring their progress and success.
• Maintain up‑to‑date curriculum content reflecting current trends and best practices.
• Collaborate with department staff to ensure quality assurance and accreditation compliance.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (NQF Level 9) in Hospitality or a related field (essential).
• Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7) in Hospitality (essential).
• Minimum five (5) years of practical, relevant industry experience.
• At least two (2) years of lecturing or teaching experience at a tertiary level.
• Registration with ETDP SETA as an Assessor (beneficial) and scoped by CATHSSETA (beneficial).
• Demonstrated record of student throughput and pass rates.

Required skills

• Proficiency with relevant computer software for teaching and administration.
• Strong curriculum development and assessment knowledge.
• Effective administrative and organisational abilities.
