Hospital Porter – Life Entabeni Hospital

About the role

We are seeking a Porter to join Life Entabeni Hospital in Johannesburg, reporting to the Reception Supervisor. The role supports nursing staff by transporting patients and assisting the administration department under the guidance of the Admission Supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Provide prompt, courteous service to patients, staff, doctors and visitors.
• Safely transport patients to wards and other hospital sites.
• Assist with queries at the information desk.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Plan and manage orderly storage of wheelchairs.
• Report faulty, unsafe or broken wheelchairs immediately.
• Carry out ad‑hoc duties assigned by the Reception Supervisor.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) qualification.
• Enthusiastic, motivated, punctual and well‑organised with initiative.
• Ability to work shifts and overtime as required.
• Customer‑service orientation with good time‑management skills.
• Reliable transport for shift work.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.
• Understanding of the private healthcare industry is an advantage.
