Hospital Pharmacist (Alberton)

About the role

We are looking for a qualified pharmacist to join the team at Netcare Alberton Hospital. The pharmacist will ensure safe and effective medication use for patients and support the wider healthcare team in delivering high‑quality care.

Key responsibilities

• Dispense hospital and retail prescriptions, providing advice on dosage, drug interactions and side effects.
• Prepare, issue and control oncology medicines in line with pharmacy policies.
• Act as custodian for Schedule 5 and Schedule 6 controlled substances, complying with legal requirements.
• Provide medication counselling to patients and staff, including information on storage and contraindications.
• Supervise and guide pharmacy assistants and interns.
• Manage pharmaceutical stock: acquisition, storage, handling, cyclical and full stock takes, and re‑ordering.
• Maintain accurate prescription records according to legislative standards.
• Perform related administrative and housekeeping tasks.

Required profile

• Registered pharmacist with a commitment to patient safety and cost‑effective care.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Attention to detail in record‑keeping and stock management.
• Willingness to supervise junior pharmacy staff.
