HIAB Operator – Fixed-Term Contract

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HIAB Operator to join our client’s team in Secunda on a fixed‑term basis. The role involves safely operating a HIAB crane on an electrical industry site, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and efficient material handling.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pre‑start safety checks of the crane, hydraulics, ropes, outriggers and complete the daily logbook.
• Set up the site safely by assessing ground conditions, clearing overhead power lines, deploying outriggers with pads and barricading the slew zone.
• Lift and place materials safely, minimizing risk to people and property.
• Operate in full compliance with the OHS Act and Driven Machinery Regulations.
• Communicate with banksmen/riggers using hand signals or radio.
• Maintain accurate crane documentation, reporting incidents and near‑misses.

Required profile

• Valid C1/EC driver’s licence.
• HIAB Crane Operator Certificate.
• 3–5 years of relevant crane operating experience.
• Rigging and Slinging Certificate (advantageous).
