Heidelberg Cylinder Operator – Printing Press

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Heidelberg Cylinder Operator to join our production team in eThekwini Central. You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality printed products while adhering to production schedules, safety standards, and waste‑reduction goals.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate Heidelberg Cylinder printing machines according to work tickets.
• Read and interpret job cards, production orders, and print specifications.
• Install plates, adjust rollers, and set ink levels for each run.
• Monitor colour consistency, registration, and overall print accuracy throughout production.
• Perform routine adjustments, preventative maintenance, and daily cleaning of the press.
• Troubleshoot minor mechanical and printing issues to minimise downtime.
• Maintain accurate production records and report any machine faults.
• Collaborate with quality control and finishing departments to meet customer specifications.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent; printing technology certification is a plus.
• 3–5 years of experience operating a Heidelberg Cylinder press in commercial, packaging, or lithographic printing.
• Strong understanding of print production processes and quality‑control procedures.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
