Health and Safety Consultant

About the role

Labournet is seeking a Health and Safety Consultant to join its Cape Town branch and support multiple client organisations across the construction sector. You will help implement and maintain occupational health and safety management systems, ensuring compliance with South African OHS legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advice on OHS legal requirements (OHS Act, COIDA, SANS, SABS) to minimise client risk.
• Develop, implement and monitor detailed project plans for each client.
• Conduct safety audits, draft policies, risk assessments, safe work procedures and emergency response plans.
• Lead incident investigations and report findings to client management.
• Train client staff to perform monthly inspections and facilitate safety committees.
• Prepare and deliver project‑specific safety documentation and inductions.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (NQF5) with an accredited OHS certificate.
• 1‑2 years of health and safety consulting experience (advantageous).
• Customer‑first mindset with strong communication skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
