Head of Procurement

About the role

The President Hotel is seeking a senior procurement leader to own the end‑to‑end procurement function, develop strategy and drive cost optimisation across all hotel categories.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the hotel’s procurement strategy, policies, procedures and annual sourcing plan.
• Lead strategic sourcing initiatives, RFQs, tenders and commercial evaluations for categories such as Food & Beverage, engineering, IT and capital projects.
• Negotiate supplier contracts, manage supplier performance, and maintain a comprehensive contract register.
• Oversee daily procurement activity across all departments, approve purchase orders and ensure compliance with governance frameworks.
• Identify, measure and validate procurement savings, cost avoidance and other value improvements, producing dashboards and reports.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years progressive procurement or supply management experience, with at least 3 years leading a procurement team.
• Experience in a large‑volume hotel, resort or comparable hospitality environment, preferably with direct hotel procurement exposure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field; professional certification (CIPS) preferred.
• Strong commercial negotiation, contract‑management and supplier‑performance expertise.
• South African ID or valid work authorisation.
