Head of Operations – Luxury Safari Travel (Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking a Head of Operations to lead our luxury safari travel business in Cape Town. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will drive commercial performance, oversee multiple teams, and ensure exceptional client experiences across the bespoke safari portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and own a KPI framework for Sales, Groups and Product teams.
• Track, analyse and report on conversion, revenue, margin and client satisfaction metrics.
• Produce monthly commercial performance reports for senior leadership.
• Directly manage the Sales Manager, Head of Groups and Product Manager, setting objectives and conducting performance reviews.
• Act as senior escalation point for significant client issues.
• Manage operational risk, including emergency response planning and supplier due diligence.
• Lead business improvement projects from scope definition through delivery.

Required profile

• Proven senior management experience in operations or commercial management, preferably within DMCs, safari or luxury travel.
• Demonstrated ability to drive commercial results through target setting, performance tracking and team leadership.
• Strong analytical mindset with data‑driven decision‑making skills.
• Calm under pressure and capable of handling complex client situations.
• Passion for Africa and luxury travel experiences.
