Head of Operations

About the role

This senior leadership position will shape and scale the operational foundation of a global, fully remote financial services organisation. Based in South Africa, the Head of Operations will oversee critical functions such as payments, reconciliations, treasury, and digital‑asset settlement, ensuring efficiency, resilience and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute an operations strategy aligned with business growth, scalability and compliance goals.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams across payments, treasury, card operations, back‑office and digital‑asset settlement.
• Own operational performance metrics, controls and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Drive process optimisation, automation and transformation using technology, data and AI‑enabled solutions.
• Establish and maintain operational risk management frameworks, audit readiness and regulatory reporting.
• Partner with compliance, risk and financial‑crime teams to ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulations.
• Collaborate with technology, data, people and client‑facing leaders to align operations with overall business objectives.

Required profile

• 10+ years of progressive experience leading operations in banking, fintech, financial services or wealth‑management environments.
• Proven track record of scaling complex, regulated operational functions.
• Strategic thinker with strong governance, risk‑management and people‑leadership capabilities.
• Experience managing payments, reconciliations, treasury and digital‑asset settlement processes.
